Phuket’s Hidden Forest is one of the leading conservation centres surrounding one of Thailand’s most recognisable symbols – the Asian Elephant. This sanctuary allows elephants from across the region to roam freely and be cared for in their secluded habitat. This half-day visit is about more than just watching and admiring these grey giants from a safe and secure distance; at its core, the people behind the Hidden Forest Elephant Reserve offer an in-depth look into the massive efforts undertaken to protect the elephants at all costs. The guided walks through this lush green region include seeing the elephants bathing, eating and enjoying their protected home. At the same time, visitors gain an insight into the stories and history of its inhabitants who were rescued from logging or riding industries. Lunch or dinner – a Thai-style vegetarian – buffet meal is included during this tour. The revenue generated is put back into further research and conservation plans and working towards increasing the elephant population in Thailand.
