Travel 100 km southwest of Bangkok to Ratchaburi Province to experience local life in Thailand. En route visit the Mae Klong railway market, which famously operates close to railway tracks. Every time a train arrives, the awnings of the shops are quickly rolled back along with chairs, tables and anything else blocking the track. After the train departs, it’s back to business as usual, and we continue to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, a 30-minute drive away. Harking back to a time when water transport was the primary mode of transportation, the floating market puts up an alluring display of fresh fruits, flowers, colourful clothing, souvenirs and more along the waterways and on vendor boats. On our way back to Bangkok, we see a local sugar palm farm to understand how this staple Thai condiment is made and distributed across the country.
